I bought this book for my son's 8th birthday. For his birthday last year, I bought him Shmuel 1, and he requested Shmuel 2 for this year's present. It's an easy read and very interesting! I enjoyed reading it too! The package came in good timing too.

When Rankin's Heidlilicious arrived, the book was wrapped in shrink wrap. While removing this plastic, I immediately could appreciate the physical quality of this book. It seems many book publishers are looking for ways to reduce the costs associated with publication and quality often suffers as a result. Heidilicious is the exception.

The dust jacket is thick and double folded at the edges, providing sturdy protection to the hot pink cloth bound boards of the book. If the dust jacket is removed, a smooth-lined silhouette of the female form is embossed in white on the front. The contrast between the white figure and the pink cloth is striking.

The binding appears tight and double-stitched and should survive more than one generation of heavy use.

The high quality of Rankin's photographs are consistent throughout the book and the paper stock used for printing is thick high quality gloss. The ink goes all the way to the edges of the paper.

The mood of the photographs remains playful throughout, but the approach is very dynamic. Heidi mimics a kitten, is clothed only with chocolate syrup, reveals an angry clenched-fisted snarl, frolics nude on the beach, and remains stunningly sexy regardless.

There is a text interview by her husband, Seal, and an interview of Heidi herself. This text is translated into several languages and first appears to be longer than actuality.

If searching for criticism, one may discover a couple of page-spanning photographs that are interrupted by the middle seam of the book, making them difficult to fully appreciate.

Overall this is a quality photographic essay of personality and liberating sexuality. Rankin provides a beautiful collection that constantly reminds of the playful fun side of humanity, and choosing Heidi to help inspire this message was brilliant.

Holy Heidi!

Holy Heidi! This book is as gorgeous as it's namesake. Beautiful binding, unparalleled print quality, very heavy stock: Wow! When I saw this book, I knew I had to have it, and every time I open it, I'm as happy as I was the day it arrived.

What continues to strike me is the relationship that comes across in Rankin's photos. He and Heidi are comfortable with one another. You always hear "smile with your eyes" on shows like America's Next Top Model: in this book, Heidi smiles with her whole body and Rankin captures every inch of it.

Wish there were more outfits

I guess because of the cover I was expecting more playful outfits. Something a little more playful Victoria Secret like. It is definitely not that. It is an artsy look at some photographs of Heidi. The book, paper and binding get a 5 star for sure very, very well done. I wish they would redo this with some more of the stuff the demographic might like.

As someone who enjoys learning about languages, their origins and similarities, this book is fascinating to me. It is dated, in
that the Soviet Union no longer exists, and demographics I'm sure have changed greatly since it was published, but certainly the information about the various languages is as valid, not to mention comprehensive. In the introduction, it addresses language classifications, history, the influence of Russian on the languages and so on. It then tackles the languages by classification. I especially liked the texts provided at the end of each chapter with translations, allowing the reader to see how the sentences are put together. I really enjoy this book.

A Great Tool For Understanding What The Numbers Are Saying!

Visual Finance is destined to become a classic. A highly respected professional friend recommended it to me. Given my regard for the coleague's opinion, I bought the kindle version immediately. I had barely got into it when I concluded the book contains so many gems that I needed to book mark and highlight, I ordered the paper copy. It was worth the investment.

By the way, I'm a CPA with an undergraduate degree in Accounting. I got a better understanding from this book on how to explain accounting issues to non-finance executives in a jargon-free way than ever before.

I highly recommend it! And if you really want to enjoy it, I will suggest the paper version for the best reading experience.

VERY MUCH USEFUL BOOK

This book is very different from other Finance for non-financial managers. The main difference being that this book contains almost no numbers ! The visual model is very logical and makes you see accounting in a brand new way. A very original book in a field where there are few innovations !

Wish all textbooks are as fun as this one

This book was a recommended read in our Accounting class. It just helps you put the pieces together. I consider myself an expert on the subject, still the book helped me refresh some concepts and see them in a different way. My colleagues that struggled to understand the class used this visual model as a valuable support and improved their grades.

The only downside is that it was very short.

Great source for 90% of the tax return questions that come up, but pricey and no e-book version.

I have been buying these for years to support my "family and friends" tax return practice. You can usually find very concise answers to most questions that are likely to come up on 90% of the returns that I do. Anything real complex will require more study elsewhere, and a lot of it can be found on the internet. But this book is indexed and more properly addresses most of the issues a tax preparer will need.

I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because first, it is pricey and keeps getting pricier each year, and second, why don't they make an e-book version? It would save having to ship a brick heavy book every year to you.

The 2017 is a fantastic update on the 2016 edition. Captures just about everything any working tax accountant might need at the tip of their fingers. I'd rather have this handy than just 'google' my question. While this is great to have handy, it's not meant to substitute actual tax research in the Code and regs.
