Awakened me to search scripture for the real truths.

I literally consumed this book. There is nothing but truth to what Jim Bakker has to say, read this book, sit with your Bible and search the scriptures yourself. I have recently been rethinking the PreTrib Rapture "concept" and Bro. Bakker has given me reason to doubt what I have been taught all of my life. I see that Christians will go through at least a portion of the Tribulation as a refining process, taken out only before Judgment comes to the earth. I also see that God will provide for His children in ways that only He can. I understand more fully the NEED to prepare for the coming times. If you read this and do not come away with a renewed hunger to get closer to God and Love the Lord more than you ever have you have greatly missed something in this book. Be Prepared. You will have your theologies challenged. I recommend this book highly, I wish all pastors and leaders would read this book and glean the warnings that are here. Focus on God and not the things of the world!

JESUS IS THE KEY TO PROSPERITY

God has truly inspired Mr. Bakker to warn all Christians of the "THE DANGERS OF MATERIALISTIC CHRISTIANITY IN THE END TIMES". I walked away with eyes to see, ears to hear, and an urgency to love Jesus with all my heart for we are one in the same.
Mr. Bakker has awakened the silent death of false teachings concerning prosperity. Teachings that have plagued so many Christians with spritual death. Not only is he guilty of doing such (PTL)but he reveals false teachings of other pastors as well.
Bakker gets in your face with a heart of compassion laced with the boldness and courage of the Holy Spirit begging you to just love Jesus. He speaks out loudly on the cost of discipleship. "Sacrifice", "repent from your sins", "remember your responsibility to become all God as called you to be", "see everyone and everything as God sees", "deny yourself", etc. His voice is loud and full of substance.
He has carefully orchestrated old testament prophesy, the teachings of Jesus Christ, and world events in light of Scripture that you may know without a shadow of a doubt God has truly spoken. There will be an end, therefore you are encouraged to absord the knowledge of this book in order to prepare yourself and others for the ending of this world and the beginning of eternal life with Jesus.
Please, don't be mistaken!! This is not jailhouse religion talking. Jim Bakker is an example that God is a forgiving God. A God that will not allow his Chosen Vessels to become entangled with the riches of this world nor will He let bars stand in the way of spreading the gospel.
This book was not written to scare (the book speaks a great deal about the end times) but to motive. It is my prayer that you will embrace every word.

Right on the Money

Jim Bakker has struck a resounding chord with his book on Prosperity and the Coming Apocalypse. Unlike an earlier reader who misunderstood Jim, he doesn't attack pre-tribulationism, but clearly shows from the biblical that the church may well experience the Tribulation. My question to the earlier reader is if God didn't spare the early church from such persecution, and they were probably a lot more pure in their expectations of Christ's return, why should God spare the Church of the 21st century from persecution, especially as it deals with the Church of Jesus Christ in the United States. We are a materialistic, soft, and spoiled church who argues about everything, and is accountable to no one. It's about time that God did some purifying, and that the Church SHOULD go through some of the Tribulation. Mr. Bakker is not embracing "Kingdom Now" theology, as the earlier reader suggested, and he should re-read Bakker's book to know this. The only problem with this book is it is dated as far as Y2K is concerned, and Bakker's insistence on a meteor is plausible, but not scientific. Maybe God would use His own creation to do the job. Only He knows, but Jim's treatise on prosperity is golden and should be read by all those who are in the wealth, health and prosperity, as well as the name it and claim it gospel, far more damaging than some other things. Highly recommended!!!!!

And folks if I can do it, then imagine what you might be able to create! Imagine the holidays when you pull out your own special label. Think of the drinks and dishes you can concoct. Open up a whole new world of creativity and step into the hobby that is truly one of the founding traditions of our country.

There are dozens of reasons why people look into home distilling. Maybe you are looking for a new culinary branch to explore, maybe you just like the idea of knowing how to do things for yourself, perhaps you just like to keep the old ways alive or maybe you are just tired of our government telling us what we can and can not do!

In this book I will show you how easy and safe this hobby really is. This book is designed for the beginner distiller and I take the time to introduce you to all the concepts of distilling that you need to get started. One of the great thing about distilling is that you can keep it simple or as get as complicated as you could possible want. This journey is all about where you want to take it.

Please be advised that this is for informational purposes only. After you read this you will understand just how easy it is to make your own Moonshine, Whiskey, Vodka, Rum or even alternative fuels. Believe it or not there are Moonshiners everywhere, we have a grand tradition that goes back to the first settlers. Many historians will even tell you that it was moonshine that built this country!

Jeff King was born in Heidelberg Germany in 1969. His father was shortly thereafter discharged from the Army and the family moved back to the Midwest where Jeff spent his early years attempting to recreate Huck Finn's aquatic adventures . This was just the beginning of Jeff's passion for travel and adventure! He has lived and traveled all over the US and abroad with a current tally of 42 states and 24 countries. Jeff has also sailed in two oceans, two seas and one gulf. Not the kind of person to stay in one place too long Jeff's wanderlust has also lead to a multitude of careers. A true entrepreneur Jeff has lead business endeavors that include importing Art from Bali, Running a Video Game studio, PR for a top Silicon Valley marketing firm and even a brief run for local office as well as starting over half a dozen other small businesses, some successful and others that were more of a, well, "learning experience". But it's what he does when he's not in the office that really makes for an exciting tale. If there is a sense of adventure or uncharted waters ahead you can be sure that he is the first to sign up. From learning the art of Moonshining in the hills of Kentucky to getting lost in the jungles of Central America, fly fishing the Yellowstone river in Montana, white water rafting in the Sierra's or even single handing a sloop through the islands of the Caribbean.

A very, very basic book. Don't waste your money.

This book was massively disappointing, I don't know how it has so many positive reviews.

First of all, the book is tiny. It's got 80 pages of large print, widely spaced text with a few basic diagrams thrown in. If you shrank the print size and spacing down to normal book sizes I think you'd be looking at about 40 pages, which is pretty paltry. I read it in about an hour.

Second, the information presented is poorly laid out, frustratingly lacking in detail, and poorly edited. The book jumps around with little sense of flow, repeats itself, and uses Wikipedia as it's only reference.

Third, despite promising to in the title, it doesn't actually teach you to make Moonshine, Whiskey, or Vodka!! It doesn't seem like too much to ask a book to actually deliver on the promises in it's title, but incredibly this book fails at that. This book gives sketchy "recipes" without any details on what to do with the ingredients for Moonshine, Whiskey, etc... but amazingly says right there on page 60: "In this book we don't really have time to cover everything...so we are going to make rum." Then the author says that if you want to actually learn all the steps for making something other than rum, you'll need to buy his other books!! What kind of shady bait and switch nonsense is this?

Finally, as other reviewers have noted, the author has a bizzare habit of arguing nastily in the comments with folks who give his book low reviews. Had I read the reviews more thoroughly before purchasing this I would have seen the warnings for everything I've listed here, noted the strange way the author responds to constructive criticism, and gone elsewhere.

There are other, much better books availible. If you want a short and sweet guide to whiskey and distilling that actually provides all the steps you will need to make your first batch of whiskey or bourbon I recommend How to Make Whiskey:

The writer further points out that widespread illiteracy undermines most of the citizens' capacity to critically and rationally analyse National Policies. Hence, they usually fail to hold their legislators or government accountable. The writer maintains that to alleviate poverty and transform Liberia into a developmental state, the Legislature needs to assume its role by becoming robust, efficient and effective. It must promulgate pro-poor laws and policies intended to alleviate widespread poverty. This will engender national development. He concludes that the National Legislature, through prudent budgetary allocation, needs to promote infrastructural development, the right to food, equitable access to quality education, healthcare, safe drinking water, and public housing.

He holds M.A (High Distinction) in International Relations and B.A (Magna Cum Laude) in Political Science from the University of Liberia. He graduated from St. Francis High School, Maryland County. Tom Kaydor earned a Diploma in Management and Development of NGOs from the Galilee College, Israel; Certificate-Human Rights Based Approach & Results Based Management from UN System Staff College, Turin, Italy; and a Postgraduate Diploma in Diplomacy and Negotiation from the Islamabad Foreign Service Academy, Pakistan. He served as Assistant Minister for Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Liberia; UN Coordination & Common Services Adviser at UNDP Ethiopia, and UN Coordination Analyst in the Integrated Office of the DSRSG/RC/HC/RR-Liberia.

From the outset, Michael makes clear his intent to offer an objective appraisal of Freud’s theory of dreams and of the views of Freud’s critics and defenders. The author truly achieves this, in balanced and unbiased examinations. Not intended to be comprehensive, the book focuses on a number of key scholars, among them Ludwig Wittgenstein, Clark Glymour, Karl Popper, Adolf Grünbaum, J. Allan Hobson, William Domhoff, and Mark Solms. The text is well researched and documented, clear, and articulate. Michael does not strive to come up with a final resolution, instead focusing on the process of exploration and how aspects of various theories may play a part in dream theory in the future, as neuroscience continues to open new avenues. An excellent addition to the literature on Freud. Summing Up: Highly recommended. Upper-division undergraduates through faculty and professionals. (CHOICE)

Fascinating story of Christianity and China

This long (over 600 pages) and interesting book tells how Christianity came to China. Nestorian Christianity--now perhaps better called Syrian Christianity--spread like a flood over the middle east and Asia.

Syrian Christians missionaries followed the Silk Road until they reached Chang'an in China sometime in the 7th century. The Syrian church "at its apogee led to the creation of 27 metropolitan sees and 230 bishoprics" (p 42).

By the 9th century, however, Christianity was increasingly under pressure. Even so, later on, many Mongol princes were Christian. Carved burial stones testify to Christians in the middle 1300s.

Although these facts testify to the antiquity of Christianity in China, most scholars place the time of real growth in Christianity to the Jesuits, especially Matteo Ricci. It was Ricci who brought scholarly attention to the advanced state of science in the west. Ricci "acquired a certain reputation during a debate at a banquet where he held his own against the famous (Buddhist) monk...San Huai" (p 155).

Christianity was at odds with much of the culture of China. Chinese philosophers had never sought the truth, or science, as it was known in the west. Above all, cooperation was emphasized, not the right answer. This had crippled the advance of science in the east, and the strict rules of morality annoyed many Chinese.

"To Confucians, the commandment that requires human beings to love God above all things seems to disrupt the right order required by filial piety" (p 204).

One Yang Tingyun complained about the Jesuits, "Can they not just allow me to have one concubine?" (p 168). The idea of an absolute right or wrong was foreign to the Chinese.

And yet when a Chinese did truly convert, the results were as beautiful as they were in the west. Take the story of Candida Yu, born in 1607. She fervently practiced her religion, even though her husband did not convert until two years before his death. After she became a widow she "turned her house in a workshop for embroidery on silk...and thus managed to raise fund that were sent to 25...priests" (p 181). She had Jesuits translate works of astronomy as well as religious treatises. "It has been estimated that Candida helped to establish one hundred churches, chapels, and oratories" (p 182) Most of all, she helped the poor, and even the blind.

By 19th century Protestant missionaries arrived, and a true flood of conversions began. Then came the Boxer rebellion. "On the orders of the court, government troops joined the BOxers, and the massacre of Catholic and Protestant missionaries began...tens of thousands of Chinese Christians were slaughtered" (p 224-5).

Very well written book on christianity in China. A lot of information on Christians. Less dates that you think.
The only problem - Index of names reffers only to chapters not specific pages.
Anyway, if you are interested in Christianity in China - IT'S A MUST!

I read this over the summer, before the Games and the earthquakes. It was so good to have the knowledge of some of the history of the area. The maps were a wonderful accompaniment throughout the book. I was constantly going back and forth to understand the material presented.
A really great read!
