About the Author
Wei-Chau Xie is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environment Engineering and the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Waterloo. He is the author of Dynamic Stability of Structures and has published numerous journal articles on dynamic stability, structural dynamics and random vibration, nonlinear dynamics and stochastic mechanics, reliability and safety analysis of engineering systems, and seismic analysis and design of engineering structures. He has been teaching differential equations to engineering students for almost twenty years. He received the Teaching Excellence Award in 2001 in recognition of his exemplary record of outstanding teaching, concern for students, and commitment to the development and enrichment of engineering education at Waterloo. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Teacher Award in 2007, which is the highest formal recognition given by the University of Waterloo for a superior record of continued excellence in teaching.

Necessary and Sufficient

I am a structural engineer that just retired after a 47 year carreer. I have not solved differential equations for years but always thought how important they were to engineers and wanted to revisit them in my retirement. This book is tailored for solving physical problems and does not wander to pursue mathematical oddities. The presentation is very clear and thoughtful and should be of great help and interest for students as well as practising engineers. I recommend highly to all persons interested in the subject.

One-to-one classes can be very challenging , especially when trying to follow a course book. Most course book activities are designed for groups rather than one-to-one and can be quite boring if not adapted properly. The book provides great ideas for adapting materials as well as fantastic ready made activities on the CDROM that are easy to put into action. Of the many TEFL methodology books in the Executive English Solutions library, this is one of my favorites!

A Comprehensive Manual for Giving Awesome Private Lessons

This book is fantastic. As of 2015, it provides relevant, accessible, and powerful teaching tools and strategies to utilize in private lessons and other one-to-one scenarios. The book includes many games and activities for promoting dialogue between you and your student and fostering a cultural exchange that heightens the language learning experience. There are also many role playing activities as well as activities designed to make the student a more autonomous learner (and even educator!). Even more valuable were the surveys and questionnaires included in the book--all of which are designed to objectively capture the students' interests, needs, goals, and learning style.The CD, with all of the downloadable worksheets, was worth far more than the asking price of the book, and you'll be getting quite a bargain for your purchase!

I absolutely LOVE this life-saver of a book and consider it an invaluable tool in my arsenal of tricks as an EFL instructor. Highly, HIGHLY recommended!

A much needed text on family communication

Dysfunctional/abusive communication patterns are all too common in family communication but remain ignored in standard texts. This book fills a gap in research on family communication dynamics. The essays explore the patterns in depth and open up areas of research that will hopefully become incorporated into mainstream literature.

Jason Pipho, or Krisjian to his friends is the rarest of teachers. His book, “Unfixyou”, is a starting point for most to stop trying to find themselves outside of themselves. Sounds funny to say but that is what the entire world is doing. He simply points that out to his students and gets them to stay in the sensations of their bodies. His work and mission are profound! His students have amazing transformations as he literally teaches people how to turn off thinking. By doing so you bypass the filter, your brain, that has kept you in self bondage for eons. His energetic abilities are considered astounding by many but as he is quick to point out, “Everyone has these abilities. They simply forgot because they are thinking. Miracles are our birthright, not miracles.”

Path to Eden and my true self

This is my third time reading Jason Pipho's Unfixyou and I am realizing how deep and true Jason's messages are every time I read it.

As he put it, `How deep down the rabbit hole are you willing to go?'

To improve myself, increase my capacity in business and life, or find my true self, etc., I have studied from Mr. Robbins, Landmark, the Secret, Buddhism, ThetaHealing�, etc., etc., and Jason's writing is different from others. Although, initially it appeared to be similar to some others, it's in a different dimension/paradigm.

Many other programs deal with a level of thinking/belief/conviction and they teach different techniques to delete or change the so called `limiting' beliefs at a conscious or subconscious level to make things better. And, indeed, they did work for me to `improve' my thinking, hence results. I'm thankful to all of them. However, after reading this book, I know that they are dealing in the world of thinking - the world after Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge (= thinking).

This book shows the reader a way to go back to the world before the Tree of Knowledge, Eden. He explains how we have been `breaking' the perfection we already are, and how `fixing' ourselves actually break us even more.

Jason introduces simple exercises that individuals can do to be one's true self. He also writes specific instructions on meditation to quiet the mind/thinking.

After practicing those exercises, many things about me are changing and people are noticing the changes. In Jason's words, "All changes take place in the internal world and then the external world will change as if by magic." This book shows a way to meet the true, perfect self that, "was always there" and takes us back to Eden where we belong.
